Meet Your Instructor

My name is Dr. Brandon Warren. I spent several years in prison between the ages of 16 and 24. After prison I pursued my education through a bachelor's degree, two master's degrees and finally a doctorate degree in education.

I decided while I was still in prison in my early twenties that my life would be dedicated to helping people in prison get access to quality educational resources. I have pursued that calling by teaching as an adjunct professor for colleges inside the Texas, Colorado, and Missouri prison systems since 2011. In 2022 I began a free educational podcast called "Brandon's Commentary" that is on most of the prison tablets across the country (just tell your incarcerated loved one to go to the Podcast app on their tablet and search for "Brandon's Commentary" and it should come up). I explain more about the podcast in the Reentry Mindset course.

Part of my mission has also been helping people upon their release from prison. Between 2017 and 2024 I worked as a Reentry Specialist developing a Reentry Services Department for a prison education program in Texas and left as the Director of that department.

Now that I have been successful (I have been out of prison now for 20 years!!), and after more than a decade of helping others do the same, I decided to try and help people on a much greater scale.

Part of my work in previous roles was to develop a course on Reentry for men and women in prison. I taught that course for several years inside the prisons.

One thing I noticed was that there were not any reentry courses available "out here" in the "free world" for the family and friends of those incarcerated. There are reentry programs on virtually every prison facility in the country but not much for the families.

Of the many important things, I have learned from going through the reentry process on my own, helping others do the same, and traveling the country learning how other states and programs assist with reentry, one thing that is inescapable is how frustrating and complex the process can be. I have listened to countless presentations and seminars, and reviewed workbooks, resources, and curriculum. Most of them are very similar. They give advice on how to deal with individual problems- like weeds in a garden- but never how to look at the bigger picture-the whole landscape. That is what The Reentry Mindset intends to address. You will get plenty of advice from me on individual reentry problems like the other programs, but I will explain the bigger picture. Understanding the bigger picture-The Reentry Landscape- should bring you more clarity and understanding and enable you to have more realistic expectations about success after release from prison.

You will begin to have that big picture understanding within just a few hours of the course.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is this program for?

This course is designed for total beginners in the reentry process—people who don’t already have insider knowledge or formal training. Whether you’re a family member feeling overwhelmed or a returning citizen unsure where to start, our material breaks down every concept into plain language and step-by-step actions. So even if you’ve never explored reentry resources before, you’ll quickly build confidence and clarity with each lesson. However, even if you are a reentry professional you will appreciate this course. In fact, I hope you join and contribute to the conversations, I'd love to talk to you.

How long do I have access to the program & when does it start?

You have lifetime access to the course for the one-time payment of $48 during the pre-launch sale. There are already lessons uploaded in your client portal but there will be more lessons added regularly.

Can't I learn all of this on Youtube?

Unlike learning a skill such as photography, tech skills, or changing a car tire, which are the kind of things you can learn through your own research on YouTube, there simply isn't a lot of detailed, quality advice on YouTube concerning how to prepare for and be successful upon release from prison. Once you are part of the course and the community, we will want your feedback on the course and if there is something "out there" on YouTube or online that resembles what we are doing we want to know about it.
